Vintage farm house in Masovia

Beautiful, made of wood, vintage farm house was pulled down, each piece is numbered, moved to new location from eastern Poland and put together again. Below you can see how an architect friend made a weekend house for herself - two old houses joint together to make a big one.

On the left - first old house. On the right side - you can see the only new part that joints both houses together.

Two houses made to one - I love it. Perfect job. Can you have a closer look? See what I see? This house in fact is two houses joint together with and an open space. First house is on the left side, second on the right side. 2 old wooden houses brought from eastern part of Poland.

Maybe this is not common practice, but sometimes the only chance if you want to live in vintage farm house.

Chianti - Italian Restaurant in Warsaw, Poland

Photobucket
Chianti is the Italian restaurant in Warsaw worth to visit. Exists on Foksal 17 street since 90-ties - quite an achievement in very competitive gastronomic market in Warsaw. Plenty of places are 1 season stars and dissappear faster than appear. Chianti (Warsaw, Poland) best part is the nice food, friendly service and nice interior design.
Last time I was there last week - nothing really changed. For 2 hours in nice atmosphere of this Italian reasturant, dinner for 2 we spent 40 USD.
In the summer there are few tables outside.

Street art and best updating tool

If you want to stay updated on what's going on in the clubs (especially alterative ones) just get out to the streets and watch closely the posters - thats the best updating tool.

Other way is to follow some websites, but that's more difficult :) For example there is
Aktivist.pl that stays updated in few cities in Poland, but it is not available in English.

WarsawInsider.pl provides info in English, but is not really updating club life.

Whatsup.pl gives all important information to a foreigner in Poland.

Hard Rock Cafe vs Stalin

Yesterday I was rushing around the city, just trying to fix some things. I was looking around and I was thinking how bad it is, that after the war Warsaw was not restored properly. The main part of the center full of ruins of old apartment houses was not restored - there was a decision of removing them and place there a huge building Palace of Culture called 'Gift from Stalin'.
Josef Stalin was horror Soviet Union leader 1922-53. It was said he gave an option of either a metro system, or the palace. The people wanted a metro, so Stalin gave them the palace :( In 50-ties.
There is a concert hall, where are many performances taking place. The first band visiting Poland behind Iron Courtain was The Rolling Stones - I was kid at that time, but since then they had many fans in Poland. My mom was one of them :) so, when I was a kid I used to hear Rolling Stones as lullabys :)

Still today the center of the City is not arranged yet, because there are too many different ideas and there is no settlement. The ideas oscillate between removing Stalin's gift completely through leaving it and just hide with skyscrapers to expose it nicely as important historical monument.
I really do not understand why to remove it - whatever history is connected with it, it is still part of the past and history, right?

Walking around yesterday I just realise just another Laugh of the History - that huge guitar as big as the Palace of Culture. The first one you can find here.
